1. What is Music for the Cause and how long has it been around?

Music for the Cause (MFTC) is a concert series that we host at The Adelphia Music Hall once a quarter, in which 100% of the proceeds go directly to a select organization in our community that helps the people and the community itself. The upcoming installment on 3/2/18 will be the fourth MFTC we’ve put on.

2. What is the inspiration behind launching a program like this?

I lived in Morgantown, WV for almost a decade. My favorite venue/bar there, 123 Pleasant Street, had a continuing series that helped to fund their local Boys and Girls Club. It was always so much fun to attend and be a part of.

I moved to the MOV about 5 years ago and I fell in love with Marietta; the people, the charm of downtown, and the potential for growth in our community. When I started my current position of Entertainment Manager at The Adelphia, I saw it as an opportunity to give back to organizations that work so hard to make Marietta the place it is, and to have some fun in the process. We’re three down with no end in sight. Music for the Cause couldn’t be what it is without the amazing local musicians that donate their time and talent.

3. How have the successes of this program helped support The Adelphia Music Hall?

I think if anything, it shows that we support and want to be involved in things that better Marietta. It really is a special place, and we can’t take that for granted.

4. To date, through Music for the Cause, how many people have attended these events?

We’ve had over 100 people at each of the previous events, and hopefully attendance continues to grow. All the proceeds go directly to the organization, so the more people that pay the cover, the more money the organization gets.

5. What would you say is the most challenging part of planning for a Music for the Cause event?

The most challenging part is coordinating time slots for 4-5 bands in a three hour slot, and even that is enjoyable!

6. Which previous Music for the Cause events would you say have been your favorite?

I really enjoyed the first and the third because I participated as a musician, but they’ve each had things that made them unique, so it’s nearly impossible to pick one or the other.

MFTC #1 was a 90’s theme, which was super fun to play, but my favorite part was the comradery between all of the bands before, during and after. I’m not sure I’ve ever laughed so much at a show.

MFTC #2 raised the most money to date, and who doesn’t love the 80’s?! MFTC #3 was fun because we branched out a bit in theme and in pairing bands who might not generally play shows together. My friends and I put together a "last minute" band that turned into a great new project to be a part of. The next MFTC is shaping up to be the most adventurous yet, and I can’t wait to start releasing the details!

7. What hopes do you have for the future of Music for the Cause?

I just hope it continues to grow and gain more attention within the community, and brings attention to the great local musicians involved.

8. If I’ve never been to The Adelphia Music Hall for a show, what kind of experience can I expect to have?

You can expect great food and libations, as well as some of the best talent to come through the area, in the premier venue of its size in the MOV. There’s really no place like it in a few hundred mile radius.
