Sam Tuten, Executive Director
Sam Tuten is the Executive Director of Marietta Main Street and as such, oversees all of Main Street's internal and external operations including events, marketing, programming, fundraising, strategic planning, and community outreach.
Before joining Marietta Main Street, Sam worked as the City Planner for the City of Parkersburg, West Virginia. There, Sam oversaw the Planning Division within the Development Department. He reviewed all planning applications to ensure compliance, maintained the City's Comprehensive Plan, wrote and/or assisted in writing reports, grants, ordinances and regulations, and conducted research on general topics related to planning & development activities. Sam also provided staff support to various commissions and boards.
Sam is a graduate of Marietta High School and returned to the Mid-Ohio Valley in 2016 for his role with Parkersburg. Prior to that, he lived in Charleston, South Carolina for three years, earning a Master in Public Administration from the College of Charleston; he also has a B.A. from The Ohio State University.
Sam is excited to use his skills and knowledge as a City Planner to carry out the mission and vision of Marietta Main Street. As an enthusiast for all water activities and member of the Marietta Boat Club, Sam enjoys being on the river, running, spending time with his family, and walking his four legged friend, Cooper. Sam resides in Devola with his fiancée, Maggie and Cooper.
