'tis the season to be jolly

The holiday season of historic Merry-etta is one you won't want to miss. From our gorgeous brick streets decorated with snow to the sounds of a horse-drawn carriage in the distance and our buildings strung up with lights, downtown Marietta is the #1 place for shopping & dining.

christmas parade

The Merry-Etta Christmas Parade will brighten your night, literally. On November 24th at 6:00 p.m, we will kick off our annual Merry-Etta Christmas Parade, which is Marietta’s lighted parade which features businesses, organizations, groups, etc, who decorate their float to be as BRIGHT as it can be. This year, Marietta Main Street has themed the parade “Whoville” based on Dr. Seuss’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas. The parade, sponsored by West Virginia University at Parkersburg, will include special guest appearances from the Grinch himself, the Mayor of “Whoville" and we encourage all participants to dress up as “Whos” and light yourself up. Immediately following the parade, Mayor Joe Matthews will welcome the holiday season with the annual lighting of the Christmas Tree. New for this year as well will be a new 22’ LED Christmas Tree donated by Mr. Bee Photo Chip Company. Registration fees is $35 through November 9th and $55 from November 10th to 24th.
