Don't Underestimate the Little Guy

It would have been impossible to imagine, in March 2007, that Marietta Office Supply would end up where we are now. When we got our start in the heart of Historic Marietta, the office products market was already packed with “big box” chains, not to mention stand-alone retailers and online choices aplenty. 

Last year, Marietta Office Supply celebrated ten years in business. Every business in the downtown area knows that working in the small-town retail environment has its challenges, but we are delighted to say that as we start our second decade, things are only looking better and brighter.

While the argument can be made that big box chains like Wal-Mart and online resources like Amazon are threats, they are not able to bring the local, hometown touch that we offer customers every day.

Most of that is attributable to our amazing staff. Barry Mullen has been with us for 5-1/2 years and brings 25 years of experience in the business. Marissa Koon and Samantha Gay are more recent additions, and have brought a warmth and vibrancy to our sales force. Casey Cline has been handling our inside sales for the last couple of years and brought years of experience with her. Most recently, we added Lisa Tenney, who has been working with Parkersburg Office Supply for the last 25 years. I have been here since 2012, and I can tell you that this current team of people is hard-working, willing to collaborate with each other, and will do whatever they can to bring our valued customers the best experience possible.

Our competitive environment has changed dramatically as well, and we feel it has changed for the better. While the argument can be made that big box chains like Wal-Mart and online resources like Amazon are threats, they are not able to bring the local, hometown touch that we offer customers every day. We like to say that we can get you whatever you need, even if we don’t normally stock it. We are willing to go that extra mile because we know that is what creates a lifetime customer. 

As you may have heard, NOE in Parkersburg was purchased by a large company based in Columbus, and Parkersburg Office Supply closed its doors in December of 2017. This has left Marietta Office Supply as the only locally owned, locally operated, full-service office supply store in the Mid-Ohio Valley. We feel the weight of this responsibility and it is important to us that we show new customers who are joining our family that they will want to shop with us as their local source. We do not take any customers for granted and we appreciate each and every one.

We pride ourselves on offering a diverse range of products. You can come into our store and find beautiful, cost-effective office furniture along with the types of office supplies you would expect to find. We also offer printing, binding, and other services. Really, we can provide virtually anything you need to run your business.

We want to extend our appreciation to the downtown Marietta community for being so supportive of us over the years, and we are looking forward to growing with our customers in 2018.
