Main Street Welcomes 3 New Board Members in 2018

Marietta Main Street's Board of Directors seats some of the most passionate and committed community leaders our great city has to offer. The leadership of our Board of Directors has established an organization that has continued to grow each year since 2013, maintaining national accreditation from Main Street America, adapting new strategies for downtown revitalization, and ensuring our programs and events are relevant to our community here and now.

We are proud to welcome three new additions to our Board of Directors: Eric Dowler, Aleece Dye, and Tim Glover. In 2018, Main Street will be led by 15 local individuals with a heart for our community.

Learn more about each new addition to our Board of Directors below, and join us with a warm, Marietta welcome of encouragement as they embark on a three-year term leading our organization!

1. Why do you believe the mission of Marietta Main Street is important?

Downtown is the heart of our awesome community. Marietta Main Street strengthens and creates efficiencies and awareness for downtown that will keep Marietta successful! The saying goes “our youth are our future.” Among similar successes, Marietta Main Street is also a primary driver in retaining and bringing back youth to our city.

2. How did you first learn about Main Street?

I first learned about Main Street as a customer at the Marietta Adventure Company. Owners Ryan and Hallie seemed to always be talking about the organization in some manner. I then later become much more educated about Main Street as my involvement with the Rivers, Trails, & Ales Festival grew.

3. What excites you about joining Main Street's Board of Directors?

There are many things that excite me about joining but the primary thing is getting to know the retailers, restaurant owners, and other business owners at a more granular level. I'm here to give back and help encourage and support these people and our community in order for them to be sustainable and effective for many years to come.

4. What is one thing you wish to accomplish in your first year on the Board?

One of my main goals this year is to improve upon the organizational governance of finances and projects.

1. why do you believe the mission of Marietta Main Street is important?

Our city has so much to offer; rich history and culture, beautiful brick streets and buildings and passionate local community members. I feel the mission of Main Street works to preserve all that our beautiful city has to offer and enhance and protect our communities original and unique character.

2. How did you first learn about Main Street?

Our family loves to go out to eat and walk around visiting the stores on First Fridays here in Marietta so I first learned about Main Street through those events and also through social media.

3. What excites you about joining Main Street's Board of Directors?

I am excited to be able to serve on a Board where I can see real, lasting impact in the  community in which I work.

4. What is one thing you to accomplish in your first year on the Board?

I'm not sure. Right now I really just want to dive in and learn as much as I can about our organization and the long term goals for the community.

1. Why do you believe the mission of Marietta Main Street is important?

I believe the mission of Marietta Main Street is vital to maintain a vibrant downtown for merchants, visitors and locals. We have a unique town that has a rich history and a safe atmosphere to visit and live in.

2. How did you first learn about Main Street?

Dave Schramm, owner of The Workingman's Store, spoke to me about helping guide Main Street's annual celebrity golf outing several years ago.  Since then I have tried to be as involved as possible with the organization.

3. What excites you about joining Main Street's Board of Directors?

The chance to feel involved and be helpful to our downtown merchants.  I have been in sales for over 26 years with the Ohio Lottery and I feel I can be helpful in marketing and customer service to our local merchants.

4. What is one thing you to accomplish in your first year on the Board?

I would like to see Marietta Main Street expand our sponsorship reach.  We have local merchants that we count on for donations and sponsorships year long.  I think we have an opportunity to get larger corporate entities to join us in our mission outside of our town.
