The Operations Committee is always working to grow consensus and cooperation between the many groups and organizations in the community who have a stake in the economic viability of Marietta's beautiful downtown. The hope is to get everyone working toward the same goals. In addition, the committee looks for fundraising opportunities and helps with volunteer management.
It takes people and financial resources to implement a successful Main Street revitalization program. A governing board, our four standing committees, an executive director and all of our invaluable volunteers make up the fundamental operating structure of Marietta Main Street. The Operations Committee meets the 4th Friday of each month at 12 p.m. at Marietta Main Street.
Business Enhancement Committee
This committee is all about retaining and strengthening our existing businesses which is just as important as seeking out new entrepreneurs to locate in Downtown Marietta. The Main Street program tries to work closely with existing business owners but also recruit compatible new businesses and find new economic uses to build a commercial district that fits the needs and wants of today's consumers. By converting unused or underused commercial space into income producing property, we can further boost the economic impact of the district. The Business Enhancement Committee meets the 1st Monday of each month at 12 p.m. at Marietta Main Street.
This committee encourages consumers and investors to visit, work, shop and live in Downtown Marietta. This includes hosting community events and marketing our unique characteristics to residents, investors, business owners, and visitors. An effective promotions strategy creates a positive image through advertising, retail activity, special events, and marketing campaigns carried out by local volunteers. Promotional activities improve consumer perception and investor confidence in Downtown and encourage increased activity and investment in the area. The Promotions Committee meets the 1st Wednesday of each month at 5:15 p.m. at Marietta Main Street.
This committee works to help downtown Marietta look its best. Focusing on the beautiful historic buildings is just part of it. We must create an inviting atmosphere through attractive window displays, adequate parking areas, building improvements, street furniture, signs, sidewalks, street lights, and landscaping. All of these elements convey a positive message of Downtown Marietta and what it has to offer. Design goals also include encouraging good maintenance practices to the building owners, encouraging appropriate new construction, developing historic design guidelines, and long-term planning. The Design Committee meets on every 4th Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at Marietta Main Street.
Public Art Committee: A subcommittee of Design, the Public Art Committee focuses solely on uplifting downtown Marietta as an Arts + Culture District. With the development of a strategic plan for public art in the C4 District, Main Street's Public Art Committee focuses on partnering with local artists to uplift original artwork that highlights our unique history. A thriving arts district will not only inspire our community to increase their sense of pride for their hometown, but it will also aid in our vision for a fully walkable, inviting, and thriving downtown. The Public Art Committee meetings every 3rd Thursday of the month at 5:15 p.m. at Marietta Main Street.
