August First Friday Round Up

August's First Friday is quickly approaching on the 4th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and it's the perfect kick off to a weekend full of music, shopping, outdoor events, festivals and more! Shops will be open late, restaurants will feature a variety of specials, and a number of unique events will be running. Learn more below!

+ THE 42ND ANNUAL BAND ORGAN RALLY

Where: Downtown Marietta

Time: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

What: Come experience a mile of the happiest music on earth, from the Historic Lafayette Hotel to Campus Martius and Ohio River Museum on Front Street and more on Second Street! Time: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

+ FREE TOURS OF PEOPLES BANK THEATRE

Where: Peoples Bank Theatre

Time: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

What: Stop by Peoples Bank Theatre for a FREE behind-the-scenes tour! Originally known as the Hippodrome in 1919 and later as the Colony Theatre, downtown's newly renovated historic theatre reopened for performances in January 2016. Tours during First Friday, August 4 will start at 5:00 p.m., with the final tours of the evening starting at 8 p.m. Click here to learn more.

What: Join the Junior Players for opening night of their latest production. A classic fairy-tale begins in the Misty Forest, where a princess is sleeping all alone. + FOUND OBJECT ART MIXED MEDIA EXHIBIT

Where: Riverside Artists Gallery

Time: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

What: Riverside Artists Gallery celebrates discovery with the opening of a two-part show: a sculpture exhibit entitled “Found Object Art” and a mixed media exhibit that invites us to explore our relationship with the forest, entitled “Off the Trail -- A Conceptual Walk in Wayne National Forest.”
From the quirky to the profound, “Found Object Art” displays imaginative sculpture created by Riverside artists as well as community members and young artists who attended summer art camp at the gallery.
“Off the Trail” is a traveling art exhibit conceived by the Keep Wayne Wild coalition, with a mission to encourage an understanding of the importance of protecting Wayne National Forest through art. To make the evening ever more enticing, band organ music will be playing all over downtown.
Stop by to discover the unexpected in visual art, at 219 Second Street for the opening of these two exhibits, for light snacks, drinks and music

Where: The Betsey Mills Club

Time: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
