Downtown Marietta is gaining a brand new shop with a new perspective on retail. Silver Linings, located at 108 Front Street, is bringing a strong integration of fun, unique items with the treasured memories of two of Marietta’s beloved storefronts that are no longer open: My Favorite Things and Turquoise Spirit.
“I have lots of items representing the lovely Mid-Ohio Valley, and fair trade products from all over the world,” says Courtney Knoch, owner of Silver Linings, “I'm also an eclectic mixture of some of Marietta's favorites, so there really is something for just about everyone.”
The owner of Silver Linings isn’t new to downtown Marietta, though. Courtney has worked downtown for the past seven years. “Downtown has been home for me for a while, and all I could ever think to do is enjoy it and make it better. Opening my own business allowed me to express my love for Marietta, my support for downtown, and provide one more amazing place for people to enjoy here!” says Courtney.
Silver Linings is certainly adding value to downtown Marietta’s already great lineup of boutiques, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Not only does this new shop diversify the retail experience, but Silver Linings also offers a full line of coffees and teas, as well as fudge, ice cream, and other treats. Courtney says, “I want my space to be a safe, happy place, free of obligations. I love when people come in and are just looking, or grab a drink and hang out.”
Since opening up last November, Courtney shares that the amount of support she’s received as a new business owner is incredible. “It’s been amazing that since even before I opened, people were reaching out to help and support. Other downtown businesses, people in the community, out-of-towners, everyone has been nothing but kind and supportive and excited for all the things I want to do in this space!” says Courtney.
Almost a full year later, Silver Linings is officially ready to open their doors to the public and host a ribbon cutting through the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce on Friday, August 26 at 12 p.m. All are invited to participate in welcoming this new business to Front Street. The grand opening of Silver Linings will be held on Saturday, August 27 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Visitors will be greeted with free treats, gifts, and discounts.
“Marietta is more than just a place to live and work. It’s a place to play and grow and thrive and love. I’m so glad I have this opportunity to open a business, and I would encourage anyone with goals to open a business to take the leap and try it!”
Silver Linings has a full event calendar on their website, as well as inventory to choose from for online purchase. To learn more about Silver Linings, visit www.silverliningsohio.com or find the shop on Facebook.
